A kitten named Sola…
We went to an exclusive subdivision just this evening to bring my 3 year old nephew home. As we were about to leave the driveway, I heard (again) this familiar sound. The sound may seem too faint for others to hear but not for me. I was gifted (cursed perhaps) with a great sense of hearing that I can hear even the faintest cry of an abandoned kitten… even on a stormy night! So, I became restless and my eyes immediately scanned the darkly lit street of the village to search for the sound. And there I saw a vision of a small black kitten.
My eyesight sometimes amazes me. You see, I am nearsighted but I can see a tiny, black kitten who’s about 30 meters away from me, in the dark, and yet i cannot see my husband waving at me a few meters away at the shopping mall.
So, I picked the kitten up. She is very frail. Both of her eyes are swollen shut due to eye conjunctivitis (I presume). They say that one of the causes of animal abandonment is poverty. Which simply means that people tend to neglect these animals because they could not care for them and feed them. But I saw the kitten inside an exclusive village, surrounded by big houses. What could now be their excuse?
Anyway, I took the kitten to the shelter and gave her antibiotics (.05ml, 250mg 3x a day). She wouldn’t eat (maybe she is still nursing) so I tried giving her nutrivet (.05ml) and talked to one of our surrogate mom cat and asked her (more of bribe her with her favorite brand of cat food) to take care of the kitten for awhile… and hope for the best.
By the way, I named the kitten Sola ( named after the village where I found her).

We hope Sola will eat and be fine!!! It is so wonderful of you to help us cats – we wish all people would be like you!!! Welcome to the Cat Blogopshere – I guess we here are all very pampered and lucky – not only have we homes and food and are loved but we also blog, hahahahahahahahaha!!!

How kind you are to take care of all these little ones who cannot take care of themselves. I hope that little Sola will nurse and get well and find a home where the people will take good care of her.

UPDATES ON SOLA …..
The swelling of his eyes has somehow subsided but he still cant open both eyes. I really hope and pray that the virus will leave no permanent damage on both his eyes. It would really be heartbreaking if he goes blind. Thank God he is no longer having difficulty breathing. We are giving him 1ml of antibiotics 3 x a day now. We also had to bottle feed him since we don’t think our surrogate mom cats have enough milk to nurse him. But he has a round the clock “cat nannies” to keep him warm and clean him up (thanks to mom cats miki, mikah and mikee).

UPDATES ON SOLA …..
Thank God sola is now eating a little. His eyes are no longer swollen but it hasn’t fully opened yet (i hate to say this but it is already obvious that theres a permanent damage done on his eyes caused by the virus. I just wish that he wouldn’t be completely blind). He is now walking, exploring his surroundings using his other senses. We are still bottle feeding him but his surrogate mom cat, Mikah, mostly takes care of her.

I’m so glad little Sola is improving. That’s heartening news. I do hope he has some sight left and you and the vets can help him to be a happy healthy little fella. Sola is lucky to have been found. Bless Mikah (and you) for caring for him
